As it’s getting colder and we are slowly, slowly gathering around the fireplace, we start to miss the fairytales told by our grandparents. That is why Ion Creangă Theatre has prepared a show based on one of the most beautiful stories of Hans Christian Andersen, The Snow Queen. The story, which begins with “Once upon a time…” talks about a chilly winter, about the most ordinary town and about a being that tries to destroy the fragile balance of the world. The Snow Queen is not only the classic tale about good versus evil, but a universe filled with powerful and complex characters, humorous dialogues and action scenes full of suspense: a world in a cristal globe in which it slowly snows.
Rosamunde Hutt directed over 40 shows for children and families and she was part of the artistic teams of four big theatre companies: Hijinx Theatre, Polka Theatre, Theatre Centre and Unicorn Theatre. She is interested in contemporary dramaturgy, as well as in modern adaptations of classical works like Jayne Eyre, The Three Musketeers, or The Adventures of Alice in Wonderland”. She was actively involved in conceiving and developing programs and policies that promote young artists, she coordinated workshops and held conferences about theatre for children and young adults. Rosamunde Hutt has directed The Snow Queen for the second time.
Charles Way begun his career as an actor, but he started writing for theatre in 1978, at a short time after his debut. He wrote over 40 plays staged all around the world, including Sleeping Beauty, The Search For Odysseus, and A Spell of Cold Weather. Charles Way is a member of the Writer’s Guild of Great Britain, the Welsh Academy of Authors and ACLS (Author’s Licensing and Collection Society).
